Every Indian is eagerly awaiting the launch of India’s first bullet train. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor will be featuring a remarkable 21-kilometer-long underwater tunnel beneath the Arabian Sea! This engineering marvel will be a crucial part of the 508-kilometer rail line connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

Reports state that the construction of this underwater tunnel involves the use of advanced Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) and adheres to strict environmental standards. Once the Bullet Train gets started, not only the travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will get reduced, but also it will be hugely instrumental in our country’s India’s economic growth and development.

Top 10 details about this glorious Indian rail project:

  1. Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train will run at the speed of 320 km/ph and will complete the journey in just 2 hours. As of now, the normal trains between Mumbai and Ahmedabad take around 7 hours.
  2. Bullet trains will be available in every 20 minutes from Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, making the journey between the two cities easier and less time consuming.
  3. As per reports, the bullet trains will have 10 coaches having capacity for 750 passengers, and by the year 2033, it will become 15 coaches increasing the seating capacity to 1,250 passengers.
  4. There will be two coaches, namely economy and executive, having a seating configuration of 3+2 and 2+2, respectively.
  5. The best feature of the bullet trains will be the vacuum toilets. The toilets will also have baby seats for little ones along with a separate washrooms for female, male and divyangjan.
  6. For the convenience of feeding mothers and sick passengers, the bullet trains will also feature multi-purpose room. Luggage space, staff rooms (having facility of tea/coffee makers, boiling water and refrigerators, among others), folding beds, fast food vendors will also be there.
  7. Seats of bullet trains will have automatic rotation facility.
  8. For the convenience of business/executive class passengers, there will be seats with leg rests, more luggage space.
  9. As per reports, every 10 days, special train will check tracks in order to ensure safety of the passengers.
  10. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis said that the fare of Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train will be like normal railway fare.
  11. The train will cover 12 stations between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, namely Bandra Kurla Complex station (starting point), Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Baroda, Anand, Sabarmati and Ahmedabad railway station (ending point).
  12. The estimated cost of this project is around Rs 1.08 lakh crore.
