Kolkata RG Kar Hospital Rape and Murder Case: A 31-year-old junior doctor was raped and murdered on duty at RG Kar Medical College Hospital. Her body was found in the hospital on Friday. The truth that has come out in the investigation so far has shocked people. The victim was raped at a time when her organs had almost stopped working.
According to reports , this incident happened on Friday (9 August 2024), when the doctor was found in a mutilated condition in the morning. The victim was a postgraduate trainee of chest medicine and was on night duty when the incident took place. Her body was found on Friday morning at a seminar hall of the hospital.
There is outrage in the country over the brutality done to a junior doctor at Kolkata RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal. Protests are taking place in many states. Doctors are demanding a CBI inquiry into this case. There is no trust in the police investigation. Protests will continue until justice is achieved. Meanwhile, the victim’s father has expressed his pain.
The report said, “She was bleeding from both her eyes and mouth, there were injuries on the face and nails. The victim’s private parts were also bleeding. She also had injuries on her stomach, left leg…neck, right hand and…lips.”
It is being told that they stuffed a cloth in her mouth and brutalized her. She was raped not once or twice but many times. Her private part was badly injured and was bleeding continuously. Although the police had earlier called it a suicide, the condition of the half-naked body was telling something else. After which the students created a ruckus and then the post-mortem of the girl’s body was done.
A doctor at the hospital told PTI, “She had dinner with her juniors around 2 am. She then went to the seminar room since there is no separate on-call room to take some rest. In the morning, we found her body there.”

High Court asks RG Kar Medical College Principal to go on Leave
The Calcutta High Court has ordered a CBI probe into the case, citing lack of progress in the investigation. The Court has directed Dr Sandip Ghosh, the former head of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital—where a doctor was raped and murdered last week—to take leave and submit an application by 3 pm.
If the Principal fails to submit a leave application by the given time, the court will pass an order for him to leave the position.
The college principal, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, resigned amid allegations of victim-blaming and trying to cover up the crime.
